HBO Max and Discovery+ Will Merge Next Summer As One Single Streaming Service

HBO Max and Discovery+ are coming together and relaunching as a newly-merged streaming platform.

After seemingly kicking a slew of slated projects to the curb, HBO Max has announced a new joint partnership with Discovery+, which will include the two platforms coming together as one single streaming service.

There’s no new name for it yet, but according to Variety, the service is set to launch some time in Summer 2023. The news comes after WarnerMedia and Discovery – which is now Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) – merged together last year. PC Mag reports that now with a combined 92 million subscribers, the company’s master plan may be to knock its streaming competitors off the podium.

“At the end of the day, putting all the content together was the only way we saw to make this a viable business,” said B Perrette, CEO and president of global streaming and games for Warner Bros. Discovery.

There are no confirmed details on how much subscribers will have to pay. However, there will be plans for a free, ad-supported option.
