In 2019, Ice-T made a tweet suggesting the retail giant should revamp its dress code policy. The tweet came after the west coast rapper admitted to almost shooting a driver who was delivering a package to his home.
āMessage To Amazon: Now that you have regular people making your home deliveries,ā the original tweet said. āMaybe they should wear a Vest with AMAZON DELIVERY on itā¦.. I almost shot a MF creeping up to my crib last nightā¦. Just sayin.ā
It is likely that the driver was apart of Amazonās Flex program that allows independent contractors to complete local orders. Different from the companyās employees, flex drivers use their own vehicles and wear whatever they feel most comfortable in.
Nevertheless, flex drivers can access free branded apparel āto help build trust and safety in the community, while also increasing your visibility when you are delivering.ā However, according to Amazonās FAQ section on its website, wearing the companyās branded gear is optional.
Itās not confirmed that Ice-T is responsible for the change but following his tweet, Amazonās official twitter account reached out to the rapper/actor for additional information.
