Iggy Azalea is making it known that she is the only person parenting her young son, whom she shares with rapper Playboi Carti.
During a chat with Sony Music Entertainment’s “Dinner’s On Me” podcast, the 34-year-old revealed that neither she nor her son, Onyx, have a relationship with her ex.
“I’m very much a single mother. I’m very much the only parent, no disrespect, but yes, I am not co-parenting really, and that’s just the reality of it,” she revealed to host Jesse Tyler Ferguson.
The former couple welcomed their son in 2020. However, Carti and Azalea broke up shortly after. Since then, Azalea has repeatedly called out the “Type Sh**” rapper for being an absentee father. In 2022, she went on a lethal Twitter rant against her son’s father after he told XXL that he takes care of Azalea and Onyx financially. She made it clear that he does not help her or their child in any way. As an independent mother, Azalea says she has placed her career on the back burner to give Onyx the best life.
“I no longer want to be traveling around everywhere. I want to take my son to school. I want him to have memories with me and give him that time. It’s really important to me,” the “Fancy” rapper clarified. “It’s my job as a parent. I think if you’re going to have a child, you should be prepared to do that and engage in that way. And I really want to. I toured two years with my son on a bus and it was time for that to end.”
Carti has not yet responded to Azalea’s comments.
