In-Store Free Samples to Return to Trader Joe’s Following its Pandemic Hiatus

In-store free samples are back at Trader Joe’s following its pandemic hiatus.

“Demo is back in our stores,” said a Trader Joe’s spokesperson.

“We are bringing it back with a new approach. We want to focus a little more on new products. Things not necessarily on your shopping list but things we’re excited to share,” the statement continued. “Customers can stop by their neighborhood store and talk to the crew to find out what’s new.”

Despite introducing pre-pandemic freebies, the grocery store chain still does not have a food delivery service. During the Covid-19 pandemic, several large grocery chains focused their efforts on online orders and food delivery; however, Trader Joe’s did not.
Due to the enormous expenses and “tremendous resources” needed to develop a complete infrastructure specifically for online grocery shopping, the company does not offer delivery or pickup.
Trader Joe’s believes that the necessity for people is eliminated by including these services and outsourcing delivery choices.

“Customers are asking if, given current circumstances, we’re planning on offering delivery or curbside pickup,” said Tara Miller, Trader Joe’s marketing director. “We understand the impulse, and we know that some other retailers are offering these services. We also know those offerings don’t always translate into positive results.”
