In The 90’s Notorious B.I.G Robbed Anthony Mason After Smashing His Girl

We all know that art imitates life but it’s not every day we get to solve a song’s mystery nearly 20 years later.

The latest track to be deciphered is Notorious B.I.G’s “I Got A Story To Tell” off the 1997 Life After Death album. In the song B.I.G talks about sleeping with a girl who was dating one of the New York Knicks. While having sex at the player’s crib, the player comes home early. Biggie, thinking fast, pretends his robbing the place and the player, in fear, gives up his cash.

Now, after much speculation, we finally find out who the Knicks player was. Fat Joe appeared on ESPN’s Highly Questionable where he divulged the secret, the Knicks player was the late Anthony Mason.

Fat Joe, who was friends with both Biggie and Mason, was hesitant at first to reveal the name, but eventually told the show’s hosts that “I Got A Story To Tell” was about Mason. With that said, Fat Joe also reveals that the truth may have been stretched a bit for entertainment purposes. “What I heard is that it was about Anthony Mason, that was the rumor,” said Fat Joe.

Apparently that’s been the rumor around New York for years now, so it’s nothing new for some. Unfortunately we won’t ever get the opportunity to hear Mason addressed it. He passed away in 2015 from a massive heart attack. Still, I’d love to hear how much of the story was true and how much was embellished. Fat Joe is right, it is quite entertaining.
