Instagram Confirms Ongoing Outage That’s Leaving Some Users’ Accounts Suspended

An Instagram outage Monday left an influx of users locked out of their accounts, with many of them receiving messages that their accounts had been suspended for 30 days due to community guideline violations. Other users reported the loss of hundreds and, for some, millions of followers.

Instagram later confirmed in an update from its communications Twitter account that they were aware of the outage and are looking into the issue.

“We’re aware that some of you are having issues accessing your Instagram account,” it tweeted. “We’re looking into it and apologize for the inconvenience.”

Downdetector.com, a site that tracks outages, reported that the issue began around 9 a.m. ET, with about 7,600 outages around 10 a.m. By 11:30 a.m., there were 2,700 reports of outages. However, the platform has not commented to confirm how many of its users had been affected or when the issue would be resolved.
