Another 2.2 Million $1,400 Stimulus Checks Have Gone Out, Likely The Last Round

The IRS has finally sent out another round of $1,400 stimulus checks to people waiting to receive their initial payment or to people who newly filed their taxes.

On Wednesday, it was announced that another 2.2 million checks had been disbursed. Of the checks, 1.3 million went to citizens who did not have updated contact information with the IRS. The rest of the payments went to those who recently filed their 2020 taxes.

Supplemental payments are included in this latest distribution for those who received checks earlier this year based on their 2019 tax returns but were entitled to a new or increased amount based on their 2020 tax filings, which would have been recently processed.

Since March 12th, the government has issued over $400 million in Economic Impact Payments, which began last year when the pandemic was wreaking havoc on the country and the economy.

The IRS has stated that these stimulus payments will continue to be sent weekly. However, this third round will most likely be the final distribution. The White House has not acted on calls from Americans to issue weekly checks while some still struggle with the economic effects of the pandemic.
