J. Cole and Bryson Tiller Sued For Allegedly Jacking Music Producer’s 2013 Song

J.Cole and Bryson Tiller are the latest artists to be slapped with lawsuits for copyright infringement.

In court documents obtained by The Blast, music producer Gary Frisby, better known as G-Money, accused the two artists of jacking his 2013 song, “Shawty So Cold,” for their own songs, “Exchange” by Tiller and “Deja Vu” by Cole. Frisby also filed against Sony Music, Roc Nation, and RCA Records.

According to the producer, the “substantial similarities between the three songs are of no coincidence, as Tiller’s 2016 track and Cole’s 2017 track both feature the “same kick pattern, snare pattern, FX swell and vocal strike,” as his 2013 song, “Shawty So Cold.”

As a result, Frisby is suing both Tiller and Cole for $150,000 per infringement, in addition to an injunction to prevent further profit off his work.
