Los Angeles-based rapper J $tash reportedly killed his 27-year-old girlfriend in front of her three children before taking his own life on New Year’s Day.
J $tash, real name Justin Joseph, fatally shot Jeanette Gallegos before turning the gun on himself. Responding officers found Gallegos with multiple gunshot wounds, while the 28-year-old had what appeared to be a single self-inflicted gunshot wound.
“Right now, the evidence at the scene and the preliminary information we have from the children in the home is that it’s a murder-suicide,” Lt. Derrick Alfred said.
The woman’s three children, ranging in ages from 5 to 11, were taken out of the home following the incident. The three kids lived at the residence and were not harmed during the shooting.
KTLA reports that a gun was recovered at the scene.
J $tash was arrested for domestic violence in 2014, following an incident with then-girlfriend Danielle Phaeton. He was accused of brutally beating her in the face and body. He turned himself in to the police in October of that same year, but the charges were dropped.
J $tash was previously signed to Rich The Kid’s Rich Forever label.
