Ja Morant Breaks Silence Following Suspension For Flashing Gun in Video For the Second Time This Year

Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant says that he is taking “full accountability” for flashing a gun online for the second time this year.

“I know I’ve disappointed a lot of people who have supported me,” the 23-year-old said Tuesday, via Adrian Wojnarowski,. “This is a journey, and I recognize there is more work to do.”

“My words may not mean much right now, but I take full accountability for my actions. I’m committed to continuing to work on myself.”

According to the Memphis Grizzlies, Morant has been suspended pending a league review after he was captured on Instagram Live flashing what seemed to be a gun while he was in a car with a friend.

The Grizzlies didn’t make it to the NBA Finals, so he will not miss any games.

However, this is the second time Morant has been penalized for having a gun shown in videos on social media.

In March, he was suspended for having a gun in a Colorado bar. He was fined $600,000 and missed eight games.

NBA commissioner Adam Silver also opened up about the incident, telling ESPN Tuesday, “Honestly, I was shocked when I saw this weekend that video.”

“Now we’re in the process of investigating it, and we’ll figure out exactly what happened to the best we can. The video is a bit grainy and all that, but I’m assuming the worst,” he continued.
