Ja Morant and his fans have finally learned his punishment following his second gun-flashing incident.

The NBA has kept its promise to unveil Morant’s punishment only after the Finals were complete, slapping him with a 25-game no-pay suspension. The 2023-2024 season will kick off without Morant due to his “detrimental” conduct, concluding an investigation launched by the league.

This latest suspension is the second in mere months for the 23-year-old. Back in March, he was benched after flashing his weapon on Instagram Live during a night out in a Denver club. He is alleged to have spent $50,000 in tips on that wild night. Less than two months later, the young baller was riding in the passenger seat of a friend’s car when he showed his gun once again on Instagram.

“Ja Morant’s decision to once again wield a firearm on social media is alarming and disconcerting given his similar conduct in March for which he was already suspended eight games,” Adam Silver stated during Friday’s announcement.

In addition to sitting out so many games, Morant will be required to meet specific guidelines before returning to the court, though Silver didn’t outline what though conditions are. The Memphis Grizzlies point guard has also released a statement, taking full responsibility for his actions.

“I’m sorry for the harm I’ve done. To the kids who look up to me, I’m sorry for failing you as a role model,” he shared.

Morant is currently taking a break from social media. His statement was released on his behalf via his team.
