Jalen Hurts Graduates With A Master’s Degree From The University Of Oklahoma

Jalen Hurts, the quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles, chose to enhance his already remarkable year by successfully gaining a master’s degree.

According to a social media post by university vice president David Surratt, Hurts obtained his master’s degree in human relations from Oklahoma on Friday. Originally hailing from Houston, Hurts commenced his college football journey at Alabama, where he accomplished a bachelor’s degree in communication and information sciences in just three years. In 2019, he transferred to Oklahoma to pursue his master’s degree.

During interviews, Hurts has shared that his mother, who worked as a special education teacher during his freshman year of college, became a source of inspiration for him. However, after witnessing the layoffs of her colleagues, she chose to take a proactive approach.

“She went back to school, and she got her master’s to become a counselor,” Hurts told Essence Magazine in April. “That’s a living testimony for me.”

Outside of education, Hurts is still making strides on the field. In February, Hurts led the Eagles to Super Bowl LVII, held in Arizona. But unfortunately, the Eagles faced defeat against the Kansas City Chiefs. Notably, the game featured a controversial call against the Eagles with under two minutes remaining, which provided an opportunity for the Chiefs to secure a 38-35 victory.

Nevertheless, Hurts secured a five-year contract extension worth $255 million. The extension resulted in Hurts becoming the highest-earning player in NFL history in terms of annual compensation.
