Jason Derulo has made a bold statement about his future work habits, revealing that he will no longer be alone in a room with any female colleagues.
The singer discussed this rule during a recently released episode of In Depth with Graham Bensinger.
The singer has been dealing with a sexual harassment lawsuit filed by singer Emaza Dilan. The case has been dismissed twice, once in California and once in Nevada, yet it was refiled in New York shortly after the interview aired.
Derulo explained that even though the courts have not advanced the case, the ongoing allegations continue to impact his career and public image.
Reflecting on the experience, Derulo offered a blunt piece of advice.
“Never work with women,” he told the interviewer. After being challenged on the statement’s harshness, he clarified, “I will never be alone in a room with a woman that I work with… ever, ever again. There’s truth in every joke. But it’s a sad truth.”
Derulo also shared his frustration with how the media covered the lawsuit, especially extreme claims such as one alleging he “sacrificed a goat in a sexual ritual.”
He dismissed the story entirely, emphasizing the professional losses he experienced because of the false allegations. “That case was dismissed twice,” he said. “And I lost so many brand deals, relationships off of a story that was not even slightly believable.”
The singer went on to reflect on the challenge of publicly responding to accusations.
“It seems distasteful to combat stories that have been told about me,” Derulo said. “It seems like there’s no winning.” He expressed disappointment that the dismissals of the case were not widely reported, asking, “Why didn’t they post the dismissal at least? Wouldn’t that be fair? God damn. None of that? It’s crazy.”
By the end of the interview, Derulo left no room for confusion about his position. The lawsuit, despite being dismissed twice, pushed him to create a strict limit in his professional life.
He made it clear that he will not place himself in a room alone with a female colleague again, saying that it is the only way he feels he can move forward without risking more damage to his career.
