Jesse Williams Says His Return To Grey’s Anatomy Is Possible

Jesse Williams is leaving the door open for a possible Grey’s Anatomy return.

The actor, who played the role of plastic surgeon Dr. Jackson Avery on the hit series for 12 seasons, says that he would consider reprising the beloved role.

“He still exists in the world of the show. So, yeah, it’s totally a possibility,” he shared with Entertainment Tonight.

Fans of Grey’s were devastated when Dr. Jackson Avery moved away to Boston with trauma surgeon April Kepner. Since the character didn’t officially die off the show once the storyline ended in May 2021, there is still a good chance that he will make a comeback with April.

At the time of Williams’ departure, he’d starred in over 250 episodes. It does not appear that there was any bad blood when he walked away. Reports state that once his contract ended after season 17, he chose not to renew it. After announcing the exit, the 40-year-old expressed immense gratitude for his role on the series and thanked fans for their endless support.

This is not Williams’ first time expressing his willingness to return to Grey’s Anatomy. Back in September, he also told HollywoodLife that he’d be interested in having his character do a “check-in” on show. He also confirmed that there was no bad blood with his former co-stars, stating, “I love my people there.”
