After months of uncertainty, Judge Mathis and Linda Reese Mathis have officially closed the chapter on their divorce and reopened the door to their marriage.
Newly filed court documents show Linda requested the case be dismissed without prejudice earlier this week, and the clerk finalized the dismissal the following day. The move formally ends a split that once threatened to close the book on their nearly four-decade union.
The couple initially separated in July 2024, with Linda filing for divorce shortly after and citing irreconcilable differences following 39 years of marriage. At the time, it marked a surprising turn for a relationship long viewed as one of the more stable in the public eye.
However, by November, the two had quietly reconciled and confirmed they were working things out. Their reunion became more public when they appeared together on “The Tamron Hall Show,” where they opened up about the emotional toll of their separation and the effort it took to rebuild.
Judge Greg Mathis described the breakup in deeply personal terms, saying, “I’d do anything to get my mother back. So I did anything to get my wife back.”
Linda echoed that sentiment, explaining the process required intentional work and rediscovery. She said, “We learned each other again. We enjoyed our time doing that each and every day.”
While the reconciliation had already been underway, the official dismissal now removes any lingering legal ties to the split, signaling that their marriage is fully back on track.
