Justin Bieber revealed Friday that he was diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt Syndrome, a rare virus that affects nerves in the face and can cause facial paralysis.

The pop star took to his Instagram account to share the news with his followers, explaining the illness is the reason behind his recent show cancellations.

Justin said that the disorder affected a nerve in his ear, causing the right side of his face to be paralyzed.

It is visible in the video that Justin cannot blink with one of his eyes and can only smile with one side of his mouth.

Bieber apologized to his fans for postponing the shows but says his condition is “pretty serious.” He revealed that he has been doing facial exercises but will need to take an undetermined amount of time off to work on getting healthy.
