K. Michelle is speaking on R. Kelly with a level of honesty that’s raising eyebrows and questions at the same time. When asked directly if they were ever involved, K. Michelle didn’t hesitate.
“Oh yeah, absolutely. I loved him…I loved Robert Kelly.”
Still, the conversation quickly shifted from personal history to accountability. K. Michelle firmly shared her views on the parents of his victims, suggesting they played a part in him harming their young daughters. In addition, K. Michelle believes those in his inner circle were complicit.
“Mothers and people should be held accountable,” she told Lee.
At the same time, the singer addressed rumors about her own alleged abuse, shutting them down directly.
“Rob didn’t hit me. I didn’t go through an abusive Rob,” she said, before adding a more complicated layer to her experience. According to her, Kelly never saw her as anything more than creative inspiration.
“I might have loved him, but he didn’t see me as nothing more as motivation for writing,” she admitted, before condemning him for his crimes, such as sex trafficking and having sex with minors.
“Robert is absolutely completely wrong in the things,” the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star explained, while also questioning others who failed to intervene. “But those people around him never corrected him. That’s not an excuse Jason. Because I am a woman advocate…If you tell me a man did something to you, okay we ride at dawn.”
Her comments also extended to others connected to Kelly’s past, including his ex-wife Drea Kelly, whom she said she does not view as a victim.
