Vice President Kamala Harris has accepted CNN’s invitation for a rematch debate with former President Donald Trump, tentatively scheduled for October 23rd.

Her campaign announced this new debate date on Saturday.  Harris’ campaign chair, Jen O’Malley Dillon, highlighted the VP’s eagerness to take the stage with Trump again.

“Vice President Harris is ready for another opportunity to share a stage with Donald Trump, and she has accepted CNN’s invitation to a debate on October 23,” O’Malley Dillon said in a statement.

Harris also confirmed her interest on Twitter, writing, “I will gladly accept a second presidential debate on October 23.  I hope @realDonaldTrump will join me.”

Following their first debate on September 10th, the Harris campaign quickly pushed for another face-off, but Trump has indicated he’s not interested in participating. Dillon pointed out that Trump should have no reservations, noting that the format and setup will be identical to the CNN debate against President Joe Biden, which he praised in June as being “fair” and “professional.” If Trump accepts, the discussion will be held in Atlanta.  CNN confirmed that both Harris and Trump were invited for a second round.

Shortly after his debate against Harris, Trump maintained that he was not interested in going head-to-head with Harris again.  The Trump campaign has not responded to the newest offer.
