Kanye West Dodges Charges In Phone Throwing Incident

Kanye West is off the hook for snatching a woman’s phone earlier this year in yet another viral moment.

The incident took place in January when West was leaving his daughter North’s basketball game in Los Angeles. While in his vehicle, the “Heard Em Say” rapper and producer noticed a woman trailing behind him in her car recording him. It appears Ye believed she was paparazzi as he was seen angrily approaching her.

“Stop with the cameras,” he demanded. As he spoke through the car window, the woman kept videoing with her phone as Ye expressed his disdain for being followed and filmed without his consent. However, she went back and forth with the Yeezy founder, telling him, “Kanye, you’re a celebrity.” It was at that moment that he ripped the woman’s phone from her hand and tossed it several feet away.

The Ventura County District Attorney’s Office looked into the matter and ultimately determined that West didn’t damage the mobile device. A $30 phone case prevented any harm to the phone. She decided not to pursue charges, and the DA’s office will not be moving forward with the case.

Shortly after that run-in, Ye yelled at another nearby photographer. Apparently, he got through to that one because the man did not film him. Eventually, the 45-year-old left the scene with his new wife, Bianca Censori, in the passenger seat.
