Kanye West Opens Up About LeBron James’ Move to Los Angeles: “I Feel Like LeBron Really Needs To Be In Cleveland”

Back in July, LeBron James left his hometown team, the Cleveland Cavaliers, for the Los Angeles Lakers in a $154 million deal.

Though James’ move was his second departure in his 15-year career – the first, in 2010, when James left to win two championships with the Miami Heat – his following four years with the hometown produced the franchise’s first-ever win, as well as the city’s first major pro sports championship since 1964.

But now, as James embarks on his new journey on the West Coast, some fans are still struggling to deal with the fact that he’s taken his talents elsewhere – once again.

In fact, in a recent interview with Harvey Levin on “TMZ Live,” Kanye West opened up about James’ move to Los Angeles. Though he acknowledged it wasn’t his place to speak on James’ decision, he still felt the need to share his thoughts.

“We’re going to heal the city, we don’t need to just help. We are going to heal the city, I’m meeting with Dan Gilbert tomorrow who’s healing Detroit and healing Cleveland,” West said.

“I’ma just, it’s not my place …but just to make it ‘Ye — I feel like LeBron really needs to be in Cleveland,” he continued. “And that ain’t my place, and I’m sorry, [Maverick Carter] and LeBron for saying, I know I’m speaking out of place. But I feel like LeBron needs to be in Cleveland. Ye needs to be in Chicago. Big U needs to be in Crenshaw creating factories where his kids that he looks after – 99% of the time when he’s not with his own kids – can learn trades.”

West’s comments come after he just moved back to Chicago, and initiated efforts to give back to the community. However, they also come after LeBron recently opened an entire public school in his own hometown, shortly after his move to L.A.
