Kelly Rowland is giving us all the feels as she reflects on the deep rooted bond she shares with the Knowles family.
In a moving segment from the Mama, I Made It! talk show with host Samantha Chatman, which originally aired in December, Kelly got incredibly candid about the women who have stood by her side for decades. While the interview took place a couple of months ago, her comments about Tina Knowles, whom she affectionately calls “Mama T,” are currently making their rounds on social media, reminding everyone that family isn’t always about blood.
Kelly described a sisterhood that most people only dream of, noting that Beyoncé and Solange have always treated her as one of their own. “I can’t believe there’s someone who I don’t share blood with that you swear [loves you like that]. Yeah. And it’s not just her, you know, because we’re a tribe. It’s me, Solange, Beyoncé… They share their mother with me. Angie, we talk at least on Tuesdays. It’s the type of bond I hope every woman has. And we’ve seen the best and the worst, hardest, we’ve been through them all together. And I think that that’s what makes it really incredible,” Kelly shared.
For her, this “tribe” has been the backbone of her life, providing a sense of security and love that has survived the pressures of global superstardom.
The most emotional moment of the interview came when Kelly recalled the passing of her own mother and how Tina Knowles stepped up during her darkest hour. Even while battling her own health issues at the time, Tina didn’t hesitate to be by Kelly’s side. “Like my Mama T has seen my ugliest side. She’s seen the beautiful side. She’s seen me become a mother. She’s seen me figure it out. She’s everything,” Kelly explained. “And when I lost my mom, I remember she was so ill. This woman got on the plane and still came to be there next to me to bury my mother. And she knew it was a tough transition. She did, but she wanted to be right there with me. And that’s my matriarch.”
It’s clear that through every milestone and every tragedy, the bond between Kelly and the Knowles family remains unbreakable.
