Kenya Moore is standing her ground and clearing the air regarding recent reports that she’s falling behind on her bills.
The former Real Housewives of Atlanta star took to Instagram on Friday to break her silence and provide her side of the story concerning the legal battle over her Atlanta hair salon. Moore was quick to shut down the rumors, telling her followers, “The reports about me being behind on rent are false. As I have stated before, my company is in an active lawsuit against my salon landlord for failing to pay nearly $80,000 in tenant improvement allowance OWED TO ME.”
The controversy stems from the Kenya Moore Hair Spa, which opened its doors in Atlanta back in 2024. According to Kenya, the dispute isn’t about a lack of funds, but rather a contractual failure on the landlord’s part. She explained the significant personal investment she put into the property, noting, “I invested over $300,000 of my own money to build out my salon in a commercial space from a ‘white box’. When the landlord failed to reimburse contractual expenses, I withheld rent in an effort to reach a fair settlement, and subsequently filed a countersuit for the amount they failed to reimburse.”
This response comes after court documents, obtained by TMZ, revealed a Georgia judge ordered Kenya’s company, Moore Vision Media, to pay a total of $87,976 across two installments in February and March. The landlord, Northland Chamblee LLC, originally sued in October 2025, claiming the salon stopped paying rent and utilities as far back as December 2024. While the court ordered the payments and a monthly rent of $5,500 moving forward, the landlord recently doubled down, claiming Kenya missed the first deadline and demanding she vacate the property immediately.
Despite the legal pressure and the landlord’s attempt to regain possession of the space, Kenya seems ready to fight it out in the court of public opinion and the legal system. She’s even taking the conversation directly to her supporters to ensure the narrative stays under her control.
Closing out her statement, she invited her fans to get the full scoop, saying, “Join me live on YouTube this Sunday at 5pm Eastern to chat. Thank you, Team Twirl. You are the best fans on the planet!”
