Kim Kardashian & Scott Disick Sued for Alleged Instagram Scam

Kim Kardashian and Scott Disick have been hit with a $40 million lawsuit for promoting a fake Instagram lottery scam.

You’ve likely seen celebrities post various luxury goods with rules to a contest and how to win the items. In most cases, several Instagram accounts are tagged, and fans are urged to follow them for their chance to win. The Australian company Curated Businesses is likely the profile most people are used to seeing these giveaways associated with. However, people who participated in the games say the entire concept is a scam and are demanding a payout for their troubles.

The suit, obtained by TMZ, was filed by several people who did not win anything from the 2020 Instagram contest and insisted no winners were ever selected. They said Kim and Scott created the scam where the winner would receive $100,00, two first-class tickets to L.A., and a three-night stay in Beverly Hills where they could “shop like Kim Kardashian.” But, after the winners were announced, the accounts went private, and no further updates were disclosed.

The plaintiffs accused the defendants of using the giveaways to drive followers and sales. They claimed that Curated Businesses sold personal information to advertisers who then began soliciting them with “unwanted content.” However, the Australian-based company is fighting back, insisting they have winners and can prove it.

Although Kim and Scott were the only two named as defendants, the complaint claimed that Scott had also recruited his extended family to promote them. The Kardashian/Jenner sisters and mother Kris Jenner have all helped boost the lotteries. But, it is unclear if they will face legal action as well.

“Just a short 20 years ago, Oprah was giving away cars and cash. But today’s entertainment tycoons seem to only care about becoming richer and living an even more opulent lifestyle while duping their fans and followers,” the suit read.

The suit demands $20 million from each defendant, including Curated Business.
