Identical-twin comedians, writers, and producers Keith and Kenny Lucas will write and star in the upcoming reboot of the 80s comedy Revenge of the Nerds.
According to EW, the two are writing the script alongside Alex Rubens, known for “Keye and Peele,” “Rick and Morty,” and “The Twilight Zone.” Seth MacFarlane’s Fuzzy Door company will produce the flick for 20th Century studios. Fuzzy Door’s Alana Kleiman will executive produce.
Variety, who first reported the news, said the film will not be a remake of the 1984 original but will be a contemporary reimagining that focuses on today’s nerd culture.
The original film starred Robert Carradine and Anthony Edwards and followed a group of nerds trying to stop the continued harassment by the jock fraternity Alpha Betas. Several sequels followed, including Revenge of the Nerds II: Nerds in Paradise and the TV movies, The Next Generation and Nerds in Love.
