Man Charged with Molesting Girl While Staying in the Same Hotel Room as Her and Her Parents

A Miami man is behind bars after molesting a 12-year-old girl inside a hotel room while her parents slept just feet away.

The shocking assault took place at a hotel in Islamorada over the weekend. According to Monroe County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Adam Linhardt, 41-year-old Rafael Rolando Nicolas stayed with a couple and the victim inside the hotel room. However, his relationship with the family is unclear.

Nicolas and the victim’s dad went out Saturday night and returned to the room around 1:20 a.m. Sunday morning. When the dad laid down with his wife, Nicolas slept on a pull-out bed close to the victim.

Linhardt explained the wife woke up and saw Nicolas touching the girl as she shouted “no” and “stop.” She immediately woke up her husband, who saw Nicolas nude and touching himself. The husband retrieved a pistol and ordered Nicolas to get dressed and leave the room.

Deputies pulled over Nicolas on U.S. 1 near Mile Marker 105. He was arrested and charged with lewd and lascivious molestation on a victim under the age of 16.
