Man Missing In Grand Canyon For Seven Weeks Found Alive

A man who went missing while hiking in the Grand Canyon in December has been located alive after seven weeks.

Stephen Coleman from Portland, Maine, was last seen on December 20th on the South Rim of the canyon, located in Arizona. The Grand Canyon National Park Service (NPS) believed that the 60-year-old traveled alone and indicated that he was going hiking. Coleman left his belongings with a friend before heading down into the canyon. However, he never returned to retrieve them.

On Sunday, NPS announced on Twitter that a missing person search was underway for Coleman, who they stated may have been a transient traveling in the Arizona area from Maine.

Luckily, hours after the NPS released the missing person poster, they tweeted again, announcing that Coleman was located around noon, seven weeks after going missing.

“On February 7th at approximately 12:00 p.m., Stephen Coleman was located outside of Grand Canyon National Park.”

While they did not release details of the man’s disappearance, NPS did confirm that Coleman was found in good health.
