Man Who Killed Nicki Minaj’s Father In Hit-And-Run Crash Sentenced To One Year In Jail

The man who killed Nick Minaj’s father in a hit-and-run crash has been sentenced to one year in jail.

Back in May, Charles Polevich, 72, pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of a crime and tampering with evidence in a hit-and-run crash that led to the death of Nicki Minaj’s father, Robert Maraj. The crash took place in Long Island, New York.

Polevich’s lawyer, Marc Gann, claims Polevich may have been struggling with a mental issue at the time of the crash. Additionally, he noted that his client has been heartsick since realizing the extent of the tragedy,” mentioning there was “no excuse” for his behavior.

Despite his remorse, Nicki’s mother says her husband was left in the street “like a dog” and that giving Polevich a shorter sentence would be a “slap in the face.”

This week he was sentenced to one year in jail and was ordered to pay a $5,000 fine. His license has also been suspended for six months, U.S. News reports.
