Mariah Carey Sued For $3 Million For Cancelling South American Tour Dates and Tweeting About It

Mariah Carey has been hit with a huge lawsuit for canceling two shows in South America and tweeting about it.

In court documents obtained by the @blast, FEG Entretenimientos S.A. has accused Carey of ditching a show in Argentina and another in Chile with no prior notice. However, the promoter’s issue came after Carey took to Twitter to place the blame elsewhere. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

“Devastated my shows in Chile, Argentina & Brazil had to be canceled,” Carey wrote on Twitter, in response to the news about the cancelations. “My fans deserve better than some of these promoters treated them,” she said, blaming the promoters for the canceled shows.

In turn, the promoters fired back with claims of defamation. According to the publication, the company said Carey’s Twitter statement was “knowingly false and defamatory,” which caused “irreparable damage” to their “reputation among both concertgoers and musical artists.”

As a result, the promoters are suing for $2,000,000 in damages for the defamation, plus $500,000 for each missed show.
