McDonald’s is adding a new option to its dessert menu—the Mini McFlurry. Starting September 10, fans of the fast-food chain can enjoy a smaller version of the frozen treat at participating U.S. locations. The new Mini McFlurry will be available in all the classic flavors and can also be ordered through the McDonald’s App or McDelivery.
Alongside this new addition, McDonald’s is rolling out a change to its McFlurry packaging. The traditional plastic lid will be replaced with a “four-flap” cup design as part of the company’s efforts to become more sustainable. The updated cups will also debut on September 10, aiming to reduce single-use plastic waste.
These changes follow McDonald’s decision in October 2023 to replace McFlurry’s hollow spoons—often mistaken for straws—with a smaller black spoon that uses less plastic. According to McDonald’s, these updates are part of its broader sustainability initiative to minimize plastic waste across its restaurants.
