Meek Mill announced via Instagram on Thursday that he has been pardoned.
Fifteen years ago, the Philly rapper was convicted on drug and weapon charges.
āThank yāall,ā Meek captioned his photo.Ā āIām only gone do more for my community, on god!ā
Earlier this week, Meek was one of the 369 people to be pardoned in Pennsylvania by Gov Tom Wolf.
Since entering office in 2015, Gov Wolf has granted 2,540 pardons, a record for any governor in Pennsylvania history.
āI have taken this process very seriouslyāreviewing and giving careful thought to each and every one of these 2,540 pardons and the lives they will impact,ā said the governor, who will leave office on Jan. 17.Ā āEvery single one of the Pennsylvanians who made it through the process truly deserves their second chance, and itās been my honor to grant it.Ā A record prevents positive forward motion in a personās life and can spark a repetitive cycle of defeat.Ā I firmly believe that with restored rights, pardoned Pennsylvanians prove themselves by stepping up and giving back to our communities.ā
