Meta announced Monday that it has appointed Dina Powell McCormick as its new president and vice chairman, moving the ex-Trump administration official into one of the most senior leadership roles at the company.
In her new position, Powell McCormick will join Meta’s management team and help guide the company’s strategy and execution, according to the announcement. The move places her at the center of Meta’s expanding focus on artificial intelligence, global infrastructure, and government partnerships.
Powell McCormick joined Meta’s board of directors in April 2025 but stepped down from that role in December, based on a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Her appointment as president and vice chairman marks a shift from board oversight to operational leadership.
“Dina’s experience at the highest levels of global finance, combined with her deep relationships around the world, makes her uniquely suited to help Meta manage this next phase of growth as the company’s President and Vice Chairman,” Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in a statement.
Before joining Meta, Powell McCormick served as deputy national security advisor to Donald Trump and previously worked in senior roles under Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice during the George W. Bush administration. She also spent 16 years in senior leadership positions at Goldman Sachs and most recently held an executive role at BDT & MSD Partners.
Powell McCormick is the second former Trump administration official Meta has hired in recent weeks. Earlier this month, the company named Curtis Joseph Mahoney, a former deputy U.S. trade representative, as its chief legal officer.
The leadership announcement followed Zuckerberg’s unveiling of Meta Compute, a new artificial intelligence infrastructure initiative. Powell McCormick is expected to work closely with company leaders as Meta partners with governments and financial institutions to expand its global data center footprint.
