Michelle Williams Brings Up Race In Argument With Fiancé, He Retaliates With Comment Attacking Her Mental Health Struggles

Michelle Williams’ new show, “Chad Loves Michelle” kicked off the second episode previewing a juicy argument where Michelle mentioned race, something her husband didn’t think was very fair.

The reality series on OWN follows the Destiny’s Child singer and her husband-to-be, Chad Johnson, as they prepare to get married while dealing with Michelle’s battle with depression along the way.

“I said something to him on the lines of ‘Well, Chad, because you are not Black you would not understand why I communicate the way I do. Maybe because you didn’t grow up around a lot of Black people. So that was very, very offensive to Chad,” Michelle said.

Chad was so offended after the remark, he brought up his fiancée’s mental health struggles as a rebuttal.

“And this is not to justify it, but yesterday when we had the disagreement, he said ‘Did you take your meds today?’” Michelle retells the argument to their counselor.

Chad later apologized for the remark and admitted that he was in the wrong. But Johnson was not comfortable with his future wife throwing their racial differences in his face.

After the clip surfaced, some said Williams was totally wrong for using race against her husband, while some felt Johnson should never have brought up mental health.

The episode of “Chad Loves Michelle” airs on Saturday, Nov. 10 at 9:00 EST.
