Michigan Plane Crash Kills Four, 11-Year-Old Survivor In Critical Condition

Four people were killed, and an 11-year-old is in critical condition after a commuter plane crashed on an island in Lake Michigan on Saturday.

According to the Charlevoix County Sheriff’s Office, the plane went down on Beaver Island around 1:30 p.m. It is still unclear what caused the Britton-Norman BN-2A plane to crash. 

In addition to the pilot, three other passengers were killed. Petoskey News-Review identifies the passengers as Mike PerdueKate Leese, and Adam Kendall. The crash also killed two dogs that were on board. The pilot was not identified. 

Perdue’s daughter survived the crash but is listed in critical condition. According to a tweet by the Coast Guard, the child and a man were both airlifted to McLaren Hospital. The man was later pronounced dead.

The plane crash is still under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration.
