Miguel says his record label is blocking him from releasing another album, despite having new material ready. In a recent interview with Genius, the singer said contractual restrictions are preventing him from moving forward with the project and described the situation as “not fair.”
According to Miguel, the label is not allowing him to release new music “until late next year,” a timeline he says does not match his creative pace or current momentum. He explained that the album is already finished and that he would prefer to release it before his tour begins.
“If it was up to me, I’d put another album out before the tour starts,” he admitted.
Miguel, who released his fifth studio album “CAOS” in 2025 after a long gap between full-length projects, said he is unwilling to move ahead under terms he believes are imbalanced. He added, “I would sooner release it independently than to allow them to pick up the deal without it being a fair deal,” signaling a willingness to separate from the label if necessary.
The comments highlight ongoing tensions between artists and major labels regarding ownership, release schedules, and contract terms. Miguel did not specify which part of the agreement he finds unfair, but his remarks indicate broader concerns about control and transparency within the industry.
For now, the singer says the decision rests with the label, leaving the timeline for new music uncertain. His statements have sparked discussion among fans and industry observers about whether he may ultimately pursue an independent release.
