Mike Epps has issued a public apology after jokes he made about Nicki Minaj during a recent comedy set sparked widespread backlash online.

The incident took place during Epps’ stop in Louisville, Kentucky, on the We Them Ones Tour, where parts of his performance quickly went viral. The comedian referenced Minaj’s political support of Donald Trump, drawing mixed reactions from fans across social media.

During the set, Epps suggested that Minaj was getting “train ran on her by Donald Trump and them” and mocked her past comments about having a “gold card” visa, implying it granted her special residency rights. The moment escalated when Epps responded to a fan in the crowd by saying, “Shut up, btch, fck you and Nicki Minaj.” Clips of that exchange circulated widely, with many viewers calling the remarks disrespectful and unnecessary.

Minaj has publicly aligned herself with Trump since November, praising him on international issues and appearing at conservative events, including Turning Point USA’s America Fest. She later attended a Trump Accounts summit, where she was seen holding hands with Trump and referred to herself as his “No. 1 fan.” Minaj has also spoken about receiving a “gold card” from Trump, which White House officials later confirmed was a symbolic item and not a legitimate visa or residency document.

In a newly shared video, Epps admitted he went too far. He apologized directly to Minaj and her family, explaining that alcohol affected his judgment and that he should have exercised more restraint while performing.

The situation has reopened discussion around accountability in comedy, especially when political commentary turns personal on stage.
