Milwaukee Postal Worker Fatally Shot While Delivering Mail

A veteran employee of the United States Postal Service was shot to death in northwest Milwaukee on Friday night, according to police.

The victim was identified as 44-year-old Aundre Cross, who had been a postal worker for 18 years. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have not identified a suspect and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service announced Saturday that it is offering a reward of up to $50,000 for any information that leads to an arrest and conviction.

“The suspect vehicle is described as a silver Audi Q5 SUV with tinted windows,” the USPIS tweeted. “The suspect(s) should be considered armed and dangerous.”

No other information about the incident was made available. The USPIS will be working alongside the Milwaukee Police Department to investigate the fatal shooting.

“The shooting death of a Milwaukee postal worker is alarming,” said Mayor Cavalier Johnson in a statement. “My thoughts are with the victim’s family and colleagues. The postal worker in this homicide was a public servant, which makes this crime even more disturbing.”

A former co-worker of Cross, identified as Tia R., told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that Cross had four children. She described him as a positive person who “was a mentor to everybody.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the police at (414) 935-7360 or contact the USPIS at (877)-876-2455 and reference case number 3927094. If you prefer to stay anonymous, you can call Crime Stoppers at (414) 224-TIPS or P3 TIPS.
