Michael Jordan’s Rookie Sneakers Expected to Break Records at Auction

Famous auction house Sotheby’s is selling Michael Jordan’s earliest worn pair of Nike Air Ships, and they’re expected to be the most valuable sneakers ever sold at auction.

The sneakers, which are already considered a rare piece of sneaker history, are hitting the marketplace and are expected to sell for between $1 million to $1.5 million.

The basketball legend’s first pair of sneakers worn as a pro, known as the red and white Nike Air Ships, is the earliest regular-season pair of Jordans to come to the market.

Jordan wore the red and white pair on Nov. 1, 1984, of his rookie season, during his fifth pro game ever as the Chicago Bulls played the Denver Nuggets. The shoes were designed by Bruce Kilgore and were only supplied to Jordan in quantities after producing the Air Jordan 1s.
