Oh Kevin…how are you gonna let a 13-year old girl embarrass you on the court like that? During the annual NBA All-Star Celebrity game, which took place at Madison Square Garden this year, the East team, coached by Carmelo Anthony and ESPN Radio’s Mike Greenberg, squared off with the West team, coached by Spike Lee and ESPN Radio’s Mike Golic. The East team included big names like Kevin Hart, Common, Chadwick Boseman, Michael Rapaport, Allan Houston, and Shoni Schimmel while the West team included stars like Mo’ne Davis, Jesse Williams, Sarah Silverman, Anthony Anderson, Skylar Diggins, and Nick Cannon. The West’s Mo’ne Davis got matched up against the East’s Kevin Hart early in the game. Mon’e is obviously an incredible baseball player but as it turns out, she’s got skills on the basketball court as well.
Kevin got the first victory of the night in his matchup with Mo’ne, getting the jump ball to his team at tipoff. But the highlight of their ongoing battle was halfway through the first quarter when Mo’ne pulled a crazy spin move on Kevin and hit the lay up as he tried to defend her.
Okay, I see you Mo’ne!!
She definitely gave Kevin a run for his money throughout the game, working him on defense, blowing past him to get open shots, and drawing fouls. At halftime, the Little League star wasn’t afraid to talk trash to the comedian and let him know what he was up against.
Kevin did somewhat redeem himself in the second half, scoring 9 points in the last 20 minutes of the game, but it wasn’t enough. After a pretty close game, Mo’ne and the West team took the win 59-51. But it’s all good though…Kevin still won MVP at the end of the night, which is his 4th consecutive All-Star Celebrity Game MVP award. So even though he left his pride on the court, he still got to walk away with something.
