Montell Jordan is now opening up about a personal fight that’s bigger than music. The 56-year-old artist revealed on TODAY that his prostate cancer, which he believed had been removed after surgery, has returned.
“I always imagined I would be telling my prostate cancer story from the other side,” the singer stated. “My prostate was removed. There were clear margins.” But nearly a year after his prostatectomy, doctors found traces of cancer still present.
Diagnosed in early 2024 with Stage 1 cancer after a routine PSA screening, Jordan credits those tests for catching it early. “That was probably the saving grace,” he shared.
Jordan, who is now a pastor and health advocate, will undergo seven weeks of targeted radiation therapy and hormone treatments. He says his goal is simple: “To continue giving myself the best quality of life possible.”
Jordan hopes his story pushes Black men to prioritize screenings.
“Doing nothing is not an option,” he says. “Your life is worth more than what a stigma presents.”
Now facing this second phase of his cancer journey, Jordan remains optimistic.
“Even after this next treatment, I believe it will eradicate the cancer from my body,” he firmly stated.
