Ms. Pat Slams People Celebrating SNAP Cuts: “Nobody Asked to Be Born Into a Family of Poverty” [Video]

Ms. Pat

Comedian Ms. Pat is hoping people will have more compassion when speaking about the SNAP benefits being halted.

During her appearance on “The Breakfast Club,” she urged listeners to think about the children affected by the program being stalled during the government shutdown.

“You know, I see people in the grocery store celebrating that people don’t have SNAP,” she said. “Nobody asked to be born into a family of poverty…You can’t fault the kids for having a parent that needs a program.”

Ms. Pat reflected on her own childhood, saying, “I grew up on food stamps. There were so many times we ran out of food, and I could not wait until Monday morning so I could get that breakfast ready at school.”

Her message was clear: the ones who suffer most aren’t the parents, but the children.

In fiscal year 2023, an estimated 16 million children received Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits. Approximately 42 million people in total, or 1 in 8 Americans, are on the program. Now, those citizens could go hungry.

Ms. Pat also shared how she’s stepping up to help.

“I’m looking for a food bank. Well, I found one in my community to give food to because nobody ever think about that child,” she added.

Drawing from her own struggles, she added, “I moved 10 years from being on Section 8 and food stamps…that $1,200 I got for raising eight kids still was not enough, but I had to make it do what it do.”
