Nathaniel Hale Jr., son of the late rapper Nate Dogg, said during a recent podcast appearance that Snoop may have taken possession of his father’s masters with approval from Hale Jr.’s grandmother but without full family awareness. The catalog is believed to be worth millions.
“There is something going on that’s a feud right now,” Hale Jr. said. “I’ll be the one to say it because it’s my family.” According to Hale Jr., his uncle told him that Snoop was allowed to go to their grandmother’s house to retrieve the recordings. “She pretty much showed home here the masters were; however, this occurred, and he left with the masters,” he said.
Hale Jr. explained that the masters were stored at his grandmother’s home when Nate Dogg became ill and said his uncle did not know Snoop had retrieved them. He also emphasized that his account is secondhand. “I’m only repeating what my uncle is riding on,” Hale Jr. said.
He added that Snoop has repeatedly denied having the masters.
“What Snoop has always told me is he doesn’t got it and he would never do something like that,” Hale Jr. said. “I at least want to know that he did get them and they are safe.”
Tensions reportedly escalated after a public argument between Hale Jr. and his uncle at a Warren G performance, further straining family relations.
The claims surfaced as Snoop continues to receive positive attention for his honorary coaching role connected to the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina. Public reaction remains divided, with some fans defending Snoop’s business history and others pointing to longstanding disputes involving Death Row artists.
As of now, the location of Nate Dogg’s master recordings remains unconfirmed, and no legal action has been publicly announced.
