Nicki Minaj is no longer at risk of losing her California mansion.
The rap icon has officially satisfied a six-figure civil judgment connected to a lawsuit involving her husband, Kenneth Petty, bringing a tense legal situation to a quiet close and allowing her to keep her Hidden Hills home. During a court appearance this week, attorneys confirmed that the judgment awarded to Thomas Weidenmuller has been paid. That confirmation removed the possibility that the court would force Minaj to sell her property to cover the debt, a move that was very much on the table if payment had not been made.
The case dates back to a lawsuit filed by Weidenmuller, a former bodyguard, who alleged that Petty assaulted him backstage during one of Minaj’s 2019 shows. After neither Minaj nor Petty responded to the lawsuit, the court entered a default judgment totaling $503,318.02.
Minaj previously stated that she was unaware of the lawsuit at the time it was filed, explaining that a former business manager failed to notify her. Even so, the court ruled that she was still financially responsible, placing her personal assets at risk if the judgment remained unpaid.
Ahead of the hearing, Weidenmuller’s attorney, Paul Saso, informed the court that Minaj’s team had already resolved the matter. He later shared that the agreement came together at the last minute, prompting an apology to the judge for the sudden change in proceedings. While the exact terms of the payment or settlement were not made public, the judge acknowledged that the alternative would have required Minaj to sell her home. That outcome is now off the table.
