Nicki Minaj Is In Fact Featured On The Rap Category Ballots For The 2022 Grammys But Not For “Super Freaky Girl”

In the wake of Nicki Minaj’s beef with Latto, it has been reported that Nicki is, in fact, featured on the ballots in rap categories for the 2022 Grammys.

Last week, Nicki and Latto exchanged heated words after Nicki went on a rant about being pushed out of the best rap performance category. Nicki claims that her song “Super Freaky Girl” was bumped to the pop category to make room for Latto’s “Big Energy” single.

However, Variety says Grammy voters revealed that Nicki is included in the rap category but for her song “Do We Have A Problem?” The Grammy screening committee believes the Lil Baby featured song is a better fit in the category than “SFG.”

Nicki could possibly be upset seeing that “DWHAP” wasn’t as successful as “SFG.” The February released single rose to the number 2 spot on Billboard Hot 100 chart, while “SFG” came in as the number 1 song.

Nevertheless, Nicki has several songs featured in the rap categories, although the songs approved in the categories are more of collaborative features for Nicki.

In fact, her track “Blick Blick,” with Coi Leray, is on the ballot for best rap performance and best rap song. “Love in the Way,” with Bleu, is also listed as a nominated song for best rap song and best melodic rap performance.

Altogether, Nicki appears eight times on the ballot. Once in a pop category, twice in music video, and five times in rap categories.

As a side note, we want to also mention that “SFG” and “Big Energy” were never in the same category. Actually, “Big Energy” was nominated for best melodic rap performance.
