UK Officials Says Fully Vaccinated U.S. & European Visitors Will No Longer Need to Quarantine

The United Kingdom has announced that all fully vaccinated American and European visitors will no longer need to quarantine.

This latest measure was announced on Wednesday. Fully vaccinated people would still need to have a pre-departure test completed before arrival and take a PCR test on day two of returning to England. The move will provide relief to the U.K. tourist industry, which has taken a hit due to the pandemic. Transport Minister Grant Shapps took to Twitter to confirm that the quarantine exemption would go into effect on Monday.

England’s vaccinated visitor plan is a sharp contrast from that of the United States. Just last week, the CDC instructed that even fully vaccinated Americans should begin wearing masks indoors again as the delta strain of COVID-19 continues to run rampant. This latest guidance has many U.S. citizens fearing that lockdown measures are slowly but surely creeping back in.

The U.S. is still not letting up on its travel restrictions. Most non-U.S. citizens will remain banned from entering the country from Britain. The CDC and State Department have urged residents to avoid travel to the U.K. altogether.

With the new quarantine lift, will you and your crew be taking a vacation to the U.K. anytime soon?
