A Brooklyn teacher was arrested Friday after kissing a 13-year-old student on the lips, according to the New York Police Department.
Michael D’anna, 41, was arrested at PS/IS 30 and charged with acting in a manner injurious to a child and sexual abuse.
“The school immediately reported this deeply concerning allegation, and this individual has been removed from the school while we follow the necessary steps to pursue termination,” the Department of Education said in a statement to News 12. “The safety of our students is our top priority, and we are cooperating fully with the police department to assist with the investigation.”
D’anna, a tenured teacher, was hired by the DOE in 2009. He has been with his current school since 2013 and was placed in an administrative office while the incident is under investigation. D’anna will not have any contact with students while being investigated.
