Offset Sues QC Over Rights to His Solo Career, Label CEO and Rapper Trade Words on Twitter

Offset is taking Migos record label Quality Control (QC) to court over the rights to his solo music.

The rapper is reportedly accusing the label of ignoring the deal both parties negotiated in January 2021 regarding his solo career, TMZ reports.

According to the lawsuit filed Tuesday, Offset’s legal team claimed the rapper “paid handsomely” for his solo rights as part of the agreement, and the label isn’t honoring the deal now that he’s released new solo music. The rapper says QC is trying to claim ownership of his new single “5 4 3 2 1” in a “hostile” manner.

The suit states Offset signed to QC in 2013, which provided the label with full control and 50% of his profits. It states the rapper “set out to regain control of his solo career” when he came to understand “the full ramification of the deal that he entered into.”

Offset’s lawsuit comes just days before he’s set to drop another new single featuring Moneybagg Yo. While the rapper’s Migos QC deal is still in place, he wants the courts to step in and make it clear that the label does not have control over his solo music released since January 15, 2021, and in the future.

“Offset now brings this action to vindicate his rights and make it clear to the world that Offset, not Quality Control, owns Offset’s music,” the suit states.

Quality Control CEO Pierre “P” Thomas took to Twitter to address the suit.

“The last lawsuit was filed publicly and dismissed quietly,” he wrote. “Let’s see how this one go. Been to real for all this lame shit. Everyone know the real problem.”

Offset caught wind of P’s tweet and responded, saying, “N**gas act like im the problem I paid millions to get my rights back N**ga you black balled me I ain’t said Shìt one time homie I ain’t spoke to you in 2 years now I drop and you want ya name on my credit?”

Cardi B also stepped into the beef, saying, “Offset bought himself out his Qc deal after they didn’t want to negotiate his contract…I’m tired of people trying t make offset look like the bad guy……ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.”

For months, Migos break-up rumors spread like wildfire after Quavo and Takeoff began releasing music under the moniker “Unc & Phew.” Fans have been speculating about the fate of the rap group and it looks like they’re finally getting a glimpse of what’s been going on behind the scenes.
