Online Dating in a Nutshell By: @milagreee

Online dating is definitely difficult and comes with a new set of rules that we need to abide by. For men, its mostly a numbers game. By numbers game, I mean that they tend to talk to as many women as possible and send the exact same message to the same girl. You need to stand appart from these other females in order to deem yourself valueable.

Don’t be that lady that puts up pictures in her underwear or a whole bunch of suggestive pictures. All you will receive in return are men that want to sleep with you. If you are looking for a serious relationship, the less you show the better. The less you show, the more likely he is to respect you. There are men that regardless of what sort of pictures you put on your profile, they will send you disgusting messages but this is the beauty of dating online. You dont have to answer them, you can just ignore those messages. Those men dont deserve a response. The pictures you want to put will paint you in a postive light. They will be recent, I would say the last 6 months or so. They will be accurate, you dont want to put up pictures of when you weighed 40 pounds less than you do now and then show up for a date and get embarrassed when his jaw drops. You might get the date, but you wont hear from him again. Also, try to refrain from posting pictures with alcohol in your hand or giving the message that you’re this big party girl because you’re also going to catch the man that wants to “have fun.”

Some dudes will give you their number in the first message, but my answer to this is, bye felicia. There is nothing more unattractive than the lazy man who doesnt want to have any type of conversation and wants you to make the first move. He also could be sending the same message to every other girl waiting to see who bites. Some men believe that the more they send their number out, the more likely they will receive a pool of woman to choose from. The problem is that he will receive a few women who are interested, but he will stop talking to them after a couple of weeks. He will get bored. The rules still apply ladies, you do not make the first move. This will set the tone for the rest of your relationship. He will end up either, always waiting for you to contact him or making the minimal effort towards you. There is NOTHING more unattractive than a man who cannot or will not man up and ask for your number. Then, there are the ones that will have a long conversation with you and then send you their number. Again, you can choose to ignore this man who decided to throw the ball in your court or you can throw it back in his court. You can send your number right back to him and tell him you’d be thrilled to talk. Boom. The man makes the first move, period. Unless, you like being the aggressor, in that case, go for it.

The dude with the shirt off pictures. Yawn. This guy is a waste of time. He might be attractive, but he’s probably only looking for some one night stands or to have “fun.” I don’t suggest even answering this corny man. This guy is posing for half naked pictures in the mirror and probably doesnt have a long term relationship in mind.

Depending on what online dating site you might be on, you also might get an idea as to what these guys are looking for. For example, dont expect a relationship off of a site like Tinder. Tinder is basically the most shallow online “dating” site. You just swipe to the right if you find someone attractive and left if you dont. You arent really going to find a man of substance with this app. Try something like match.com or eharmony.com. These sites require you to enter in information that can weed out those that you aren’t interested in and allow you to be specific as to what you’re looking for. Dont get me wrong, you still have to weed out the jerks and the creeps but atleast it isnt just a physical game.
