A tense warning rang out of Philadelphia as city officials drew a hard line on federal immigration enforcement, signaling they are ready to act if ICE crosses it.

Philadelphia Sheriff Rochelle Bilal did not hold back during a press conference Thursday, slamming U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement as “madeup, fake, wannabe law enforcement,” while accusing the agency of violating both “legal law” and “moral law.” Her comments came as emotions were already high following a fatal shooting involving an ICE agent in Minneapolis the day before.
Standing alongside her, Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner made it clear that federal badges would not shield anyone from accountability inside city limits.
“If any ICE agent is gonna come to Philly to commit crimes…I will charge you with those crimes. You will stand trial. You will be convicted. Donald Trump can’t pardon you for a state conviction. Do you hear me, ICE agents?” Krasner said, delivering the message during the same press conference.
Bilal doubled down, aligning herself directly with the DA’s stance.
“So I’m with the DA,” she said. “You don’t want this smoke. Cuz we will bring it to you.” She then took a sharp jab at Trump, adding that “the criminal in the White House would not be able to keep” ICE agents from heading to jail if they broke the law in Philadelphia.
The remarks followed a deadly incident in Minneapolis where an ICE agent fatally shot a driver during what the Department of Homeland Security described as a targeted operation. DHS claimed the shooting was in self-defense, stating that officers were confronted by rioters and that one individual attempted to use a vehicle as a weapon.
“An ICE officer, fearing for his life, the lives of his fellow law enforcement and the safety of the public, fired defensive shots,” DHS said.
Fox News Digital reported it reached out to DHS for comment on Bilal’s remarks. Meanwhile, critics and supporters alike continue debating the scope of ICE’s authority and the limits of federal power, with Philadelphia’s top law enforcement officials making one thing clear. If laws are broken here, they say, charges will follow.
