Update: Prosecutors Say Alabama Basketball Player Darius Miles Admitted To Giving Gun To Man Who Fatally Shot Jamea Harris

Alabama prosecutors say former college basketball star Darius Miles admitted giving the gun to the alleged shooter who killed 23-year-old Jamea Harris.

A court document filed Tuesday reveals that Miles, 21, admitted to prosecutors that he provided the gun that Michael Davis, 20, used to shoot and kill the young woman Sunday morning in Tuscaloosa, CBS 42 News reported.

Police responded to the 500 block of Grace Street around 1:45 am. They discovered Harris dead from a gunshot wound in a car she had been riding in as a passenger. The driver of that vehicle told officers that he was in the car and returned fire in self-defense.

Both Miles and Davis face capital murder charges and remain in custody at the Tuscaloosa County Jail.

Basketball coach Nate Oats released a statement on the issue: “It’s just an unfortunate incident that I wish we weren’t having to deal with today.”
