Republican Legislator Went To His Gay Son’s Wedding Three Days After Voting Against Same-Sex Marriage

A Republican legislator went to his gay son’s wedding just three days after voting against same-sex marriage.

Just three days after voting against a House bill that would ensure the protection of same-sex marriage on a federal level, Republican Representative Glenn Thompson, R-Pa., went to his gay son’s wedding. On Monday, Thompson’s son told NBC News that he “marred the love of [his] life,” adding that his father was there to witness it.

“Congressman and Mrs. Thompson were thrilled to attend and celebrate their son’s marriage on Friday night as he began this new chapter in his life,” wrote Thompson’s press secretary in an email to NBC News, NBC Philadelphia reports. She went on to say the family is “very happy” about the new addition to their family.

On Tuesday, Thompson joined his 157 GOP teammates in their vote against the bill.
